Panzura was co-founded and funded by a team of engineers and venture capitalists with over ten years of working experience and success together. Before Panzura, they developed the core security and performance technology at wireless networking leader Aruba Networks, and the application delivery technology in Alteon WebSystem’s Layer 4-7 switching products. Today, Aruba is a public company (NASDAQ: ARUN) and Alteon was acquired by Nortel for $7.8B.


John Peters, Chief Executive Officer

John’s career as an entrepreneurial leader spans over 38 years. He has been CEO of several technology-centric companies and has deep experience in networking, security, and cloud computing for businesses of all sizes. For the past 13 years John has focused on helping venture capital-backed companies transition from early-stage to growth mode as an Interim CEO or COO. Some of the companies he has helped through this transition include Voltage Security, the leading expert in data centric encryption and tokenization; Cyphort, a provider of advanced malware detection and mitigation; Adaptive Insights, the market leader in SaaS-based corporate performance management solutions; Netli, a network-based applications acceleration service provider; and, Yipes Enterprise Services, a provider of enterprise-grade metropolitan and wide area Ethernet-over-Fiber connectivity services John has an M.B.A. from Stanford Graduate School of Business and a B.S. degree in statistics from Stanford University.

John Taylor

John Taylor, Co-founder & Chief Technology Officer

John built his career in software development and engineering management in the computer and networking security industries. His work is the foundation behind leading ATM switching, web acceleration, and Wi-Fi products. John has a reputation for growing start-ups into publicly traded companies. Before co-founding Panzura, John was a member of the founding software team at Aruba Networks, where he served as Director of Engineering. Prior to Aruba Networks, John was a lead software architect and engineer at Alteon WebSystems, playing an instrumental role in the creation of the load-balancing market. At FORE Systems, John was a software engineer before the company began trading publicly in 1994. John completed his master’s degree in computer science at the University of Virginia.

Barry Phillips

Barry Phillips, Chief Marketing Officer

Barry Phillips is responsible for Marketing and Product Management at Panzura. Barry was most recently the CMO of Egnyte. Prior to Egnyte, Barry was the CMO of Wanova (acquired by VMware) where he led Marketing, Sales, and Business Development. Barry came to Wanova from Citrix Systems, where he was the Group Vice President and GM of the Delivery Center Product Group. Barry has held executive roles at Net6, Nortel Networks, Everypath, and Cranite Systems. He began his career in United States Naval Aviation where he logged over 1,000 hours in a P-3C Orion. Barry holds a Bachelors of Computer Science from the United States Naval Academy and a Masters of Computer Science from UCLA.

Flavio Santoni

Flavio Santoni, Chief Revenue Officer

Flavio Santoni is Panzura’s Chief Revenue Officer and brings over 25 years of executive management experience in the technology space. Flavio leads all revenue generating functions of the company including sales, alliances and strategic partnerships. Prior to Panzura, Flavio was CEO of Syncsort, a data integration and data protection company. During his tenure at Syncsort, Flavio led the spin out of the data protection business forming Catalogic Software. Prior to Syncsort, his career included an eight-year tenure at LSI as Executive Vice President and Co-General Manager of the Engenio Storage Group as well as Senior Vice President of Worldwide Sales, Marketing, and Customer Support for its storage systems division. Before joining LSI, Flavio was executive vice president and chief operating officer at Sutmyn Storage Corporation, a company that pioneered Virtual Tape technology in the Mainframe space, and held various senior management positions with Memorex Telex in the United States, the United Kingdom and Italy. Flavio earned a degree in Electronics from IX Istituto Tecnico in Milan, Italy. He also has completed the Stanford University AeA/Stanford Executive Institute program for the management of high technology companies.

Rich Weber

Rich Weber, Chief Strategy Officer and VP of Engineering

With over 20 years of experience in the enterprise software, networking and storage industries, Rich is a hands-on manager of product management, IT and operations teams. Rich has also previously held Director and VP-level roles in product management and operations. Before joining Panzura, Rich was VP of Operations at Opvista and prior to that ran operations at Wi-Fi infrastructure provider Trapeze Networks, which was acquired by Belden in 2008.

Matt Lear, VP of Finance

Matt Lear, VP of Finance

Matt Lear has more than 15 years of experience managing the finance and accounting organizations for privately held technology companies. Prior to Panzura, Matt served as Corporate Controller at Model N, where he built out the accounting organization in preparation for the company’s IPO and helped guide the company’s FP&A group during a period of significant growth in both revenue and employees. Prior to Model N, Matt held various senior financial positions at Skybox Security, Atheros Communications, Calpine and Turnstone Systems. He began his career as an auditor at KPMG. Matt is a CPA and holds a BS from Fresno State University.

Caeli Collins

Caeli Collins, VP of Support

Caeli Collins has over 25 years experience building and growing enterprise support teams for the computer storage and network industry. Prior to Panzura, she led Customer Support at Violin Memory, where she was responsible for world wide technical support and developed the infrastructure to for global support operations and tools. She also served as VP of Support at ONStor and in senior roles at NetApp and KLA-Tencor. Caeli holds both Bachelor and Master degrees in Mechanical Engineering from Purdue University and an MBA from UC Berkeley.

Diptish Datta

Diptish Datta, VP of Strategy and Enterprise Applications

Diptish brings over 25 years of technical leadership experience in the computer networking and storage industry. Prior to Panzura, Diptish led customer operations at Gridiron Systems where he built and managed all customer-facing functions and led the strategy and implementation of back-end data mining and alerting tools. Before that, Diptish served as VP of services engineering at NetApp where he was the pioneer and executive champion for the development of the remote support technology and infrastructure. Diptish holds a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Virginia Tech and a Bachelor’s degree from IIT in India.

Jeff Herr

Jeff Herr, VP of Sales, North America

Jeff has over 30 years of enterprise storage sales experience and has run highly successful sales teams. Early on, he was one of NetApp’s first Area Sales Directors and helped grow the company from its infancy. More recently, Jeff served as Director of Cloud Alliances at Riverbed Technology, overseeing the growth of their cloud strategy. Jeff has also held various sales executive positions at Scalent, Index Engines, and NuView. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering from Iowa State University.
